Computer Accounting For Landlords
Keep on top...
With today's house values and high interest rates, renting out properties means pretty large sums of money are involved - and if things go wrong your financial position can head south very rapidly...
If you don't have lots of time to spend learning or doing accounting, our Workshops will show you how to use simple accounting software to keep track of your properties.
The software we show you is ideal for landlords because:
- It is simple - you don't have to re-learn it each month when you update your accounts!
- It is fast - you can even download your bank statements off the Internet
- It is easy - it's not crowded with features you won't use, and
- It is inexpensive - the $120 version is fine for most landlords
At any time you'll be able to tell who has paid their rent, what your properties are costing to operate, and what your profits (losses) are.
Analyse individual properties...
Cashbook Complete tracks how each of your properties is performing; if they are making or costing you money. Simply by setting up the right groups of categories it is very easy to keep the income and outgoings for each of your properties separate - and then you can generate reports to summarise how they are performing.
It is also a very simple matter to create budgets for each of the properties to see where you are headed. Great for bank managers!
Free non-GST software...
Residential property rental in this country is of course exempt GST, so if you are only accounting for residential rentals then it is possible to use the Cashbook Home version - which doesn’t track GST - and is free.
You will possibly want more options than are available in the free, unregistered version, in which case the Cashbook Lite version (for $120) is perfectly suitable. If you want to send out invoices and statements to tenants (slow payers?) then you will need the Cashbook Complete software (for $240) to do so. We train you on the full featured Cashbook Complete - after that, what you choose is up to you.
